Insurance Coverage for Oral Appliances

Do insurance companies cover oral appliance therapy

Yes. Most medical insurance companies cover oral appliance therapy for treatment of obstructive sleep apnea. Most companies do not have coverage for snoring only. Your benefit plan is a contract between you and your insurance company. The specifics of your plan are best answered by calling the customer service number listed on your card.

Do medical insurance companies have providers (dentists) in the network for oral appliance therapy for sleep apnea?

No. Most medical insurance companies do not have in-network providers (dentists).  Dr. Dean has been granted in network provider status with several medical insurance companies (see below).

Can I still see Dr. Dean and get coverage for my treatment even if he is not a provider in my insurance network?

Yes. If there is no in-network provider within the insurance plan, then the insurance company is required to pay the claims at the network rate (Gap Coverage). If there is an in-network provider, you can still see Dr. Dean and would receive out of network benefits.  Anthem patients are seen on a fee for service basis.

How much will my insurance company cover for this treatment?

Our office will send a pre-determination letter of benefits to your insurance company. Each plan has different deductables and co-payments. The medical insurance company will respond by sending an explanation of benefits to you.

Why isn't Dr. Dean a preferred provider on my health plan?

Dr. Dean is an in network provider with the following medical insurance carriers: UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, Tricare, Humana, Medicare

How do I pay for services?

Payment for portion of treatment not covered by insurance, including copays and deductibles, is required at the time services are rendered. Our office accepts cash, certified check, MasterCard, Visa and Discover.
